BUI3D is a UK software and 3D printing business based in Birmingham. We make software for 3D printing, including BUI3D Vault and FilamentLab. In this policy, "BUI3D", "we", "us" and "our" mean BUI3D, and "you" means anyone who visits our website or uses BUI3D Vault.
For the personal information described here, BUI3D is the data controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our contact details are at the end of this policy.
This policy covers:
How bui3d.com uses cookies is explained in our Cookie Policy. Our other services, such as filamentlab.app and bui3d.store, may provide their own privacy information where they collect personal information of their own.
When you contact us. If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, the subject and your message, plus anything else you choose to tell us. If you email us directly, we receive your email address and whatever your email contains.
When you ask for product updates. If you sign up to hear about new BUI3D products and updates, we collect your email address.
When you browse the site. Like any website, our hosting and security provider processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, so that the site can be delivered and protected from abuse. We do not use this to identify you.
Cookies. We use necessary cookies and, only if you agree, analytics and marketing cookies. See our Cookie Policy for the full list, and use the cookie preferences panel to change your choices at any time.
We do not ask for or knowingly collect special category information (such as health information) through the website.
To reply to you. We use your contact details and message to answer your enquiry and provide support. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.
To send product updates you asked for. We use your email address to tell you about new BUI3D products and updates. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by replying to one of our emails or contacting us.
To deliver software you have bought. If you buy BUI3D Vault directly from us, we use the details you give at checkout, such as your name and email address, to process your order, deliver your download and email you when a new version is released. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you. We keep records of sales because the law requires us to.
To keep the site secure and working. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable website.
To understand how the site is used. Only if you accept analytics cookies, and only in aggregate. Our lawful basis is your consent.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
BUI3D Vault runs entirely on your own computer. It reads the folders of 3D print files that you choose, and stores your library details (such as tags, notes, favourites, thumbnails and settings) only on your device.
Buying through the Microsoft Store. If you buy Vault from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft processes your purchase and payment under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We do not receive your payment details. Microsoft provides us with sales and usage reports, which we use to understand how Vault is doing.
The FilamentLab edition. A separate edition of Vault can connect to a FilamentLab subscription. When you connect it, it exchanges the information needed for the features you use with your FilamentLab account, such as linking a model to a FilamentLab product and checking for Vault updates. It does not upload your model files.
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run BUI3D, and only as much as they need:
These providers act on our instructions and must keep your information secure. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
Some of our service providers are based in, or store information in, countries outside the UK, such as the United States. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate protections are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or another safeguard recognised under UK data protection law.
After that, we delete the information or keep it only in a form that no longer identifies you.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. It's free, and we will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first.
Our website and software are not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has sent us their information, please contact us and we will delete it.
bui3d.com is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and we use reputable providers and sensible measures to protect the information we hold.
